About Us!

Lorne retired from the military after over 24 years of service, and wanted a hobby that would be relaxing and rewarding. Always an animal lover, he jumped at the idea of a hobby farm. You can usually find him out standing with the horses, just "feeling the love". He looks forward to becoming active in the showring, driving, and also to cruising down the back roads with his horse and cart! Actively involved in showing our Smooth Fox Terriers and Collies in the conformation ring during the 1980's, Lorne has also been involved in teaching obedience classes in the past. He looks forward to taking his terriers to local terrier trials, and watching the Shepherds in the conformation and obedience ring.
Ginny, also recently retired from the military, rode and showed horses as a teenager in the Ottawa Valley, but has discovered that the big horses are just, "too big" now, so was drawn to minis from the moment she saw her first one. She also looks forward to trying her hand at showing the horses, both in line classes and in harness, although she's quick to point out it's been over 30 years since she's driven a horse! Dogs replaced horses in Ginny's world in the early 1980's when she attended her first dog show while enrolled in a local dog obedience course. Firmly hooked, she went on to put a CD on her first dog, Wire Fox Terrier, Wenlex Spartan, then a CD, and CDX on Nationview's StarStep"R, (Misty) a rough collie. Ginny and Misty were even given the opportunity to travel to Houston, TX to attend the world series dog show Agility Competition. Smooth Fox Terrier, Ch. Buckaneer's Precious Periwinkle, earned her CD with Ginny, as did Belgian Tervuren, Kingmar's Highway Man with a HIT.
Ginny and Lorne were both involved in helping establishing the Champlain Dog Club in Petawawa, where Ginny served as founding president and obedience instructor during the time Lorne was posted to the area. A growing family and a military career reduced the amount of time available for hobbies, so dogs and horses were put on the back burner and were kept strictly as pets for a while (our youngest daughter maintains she was raised by a pack of cats and dogs), but both of us are ecstatic to be back in business once again!!!!
